KEDAH, FORCES, TERENGGANU ON A ROLL

Armed Forces and Kedah took control of Group A of the Raja Noora Ashikin Cup by recording their third successive wins at the Seremban 2 Hockey Stadium.

Armed Forces defeated Malacca 5-1 while Kedah blanked SMK PJ2, 8-0 and are on nine points with the Army side topping the pool with a better goal difference.

Suzana Mohamad Nasir gave Armed Forces the lead in the 7th minute but Malacca managed to restrict the score till halftime.

Just a minute into the second half Rosmah Asrin doubled the advantage. The floodgates then opened as Armed Forces added three quick goals through Izzuin Ismail 51st minute) and Elizawati Ismail who scored a brace in the 55th and 56th minutes

Nur Nabilah Rosli reduced the deficit in the 59th minute but by that time Malacca were truly beaten.

In another Group A match, Kedah trashed SMK PJ2, 8-0

Kedah scored through Roziyana Md Desa in the 9th minute with Nurul Nabihah Mansur doubling the advantage in the 15th minute.

A hattrick by Roziana Sameion ( 31st, 32nd and 66th minutes) helped Kedah to a huge win with the other goals contributed by Anis Akhma Afiza ( 28th minute), Nor Syakirah Mohd Quari ( 39th minute) and Nurul Nabihah ( 57th minute).

Terengganu also registered their third successive win in Group B when they edged hosts Negeri Sembilan 2-1.

Negeri reduced the deficit in the 57th minute via a penalty corner converted by Noor Hasnieza Mohd Udin.

Meanwhile KL Sukma went on a goalscoring spree as they trashed SM Politeknik 10-1 in a group B match in the morning.

Nuraini Mohammad opened accounts for KL Sukma in the 4th minute before Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain doubled the advantage in the 7th minute.

Although Nur Zulaika Yusof reduced the deficit in the 10th minute for Politeknik, KL Sukma were in an uncomprising mood.

“We had a poor game against Terengganu on Wednesday thus the huge scoreline is a welcome relief,” said KL coach Rizal Razman.

“Our test will be against PDRM tomorrow (Friday) as we will be up against the favourites. All I want is for my players to give their best and play up to their abilities.”
