KEDAH, FORCES, TERENGGANU ON A ROLL
Armed Forces and Kedah took control of Group A of the
Raja Noora Ashikin Cup by recording their third successive wins at the Seremban
2 Hockey Stadium.
Armed Forces defeated Malacca 5-1 while Kedah blanked
SMK PJ2, 8-0 and are on nine points with the Army side topping the pool with a
better goal difference.
Suzana Mohamad Nasir gave Armed Forces
the lead in the 7th minute but Malacca managed to restrict the score
till halftime.
Just a minute into the second half Rosmah
Asrin doubled the advantage. The floodgates then opened as Armed Forces added
three quick goals through Izzuin Ismail 51st minute) and Elizawati Ismail who
scored a brace in the 55th and 56th minutes
Nur Nabilah Rosli reduced the deficit in the
59th minute but by that time Malacca were truly beaten.
In another Group A match, Kedah trashed SMK
PJ2, 8-0
Kedah scored through Roziyana Md Desa in the
9th minute with Nurul Nabihah Mansur doubling the advantage in the
15th minute.
A hattrick by Roziana Sameion ( 31st,
32nd and 66th minutes) helped Kedah to a huge win with
the other goals contributed by Anis Akhma Afiza ( 28th minute), Nor
Syakirah Mohd Quari ( 39th minute) and Nurul Nabihah ( 57th
minute).
Terengganu also registered their third
successive win in Group B when they edged hosts Negeri Sembilan 2-1.
Nor Asikin Halim put Terengganu in the lead
in the 26th minute before adding a second for her team in the 43rd
minute.
Negeri reduced the deficit in the 57th
minute via a penalty corner converted by Noor Hasnieza Mohd Udin.
Meanwhile KL Sukma went on a goalscoring
spree as they trashed SM Politeknik 10-1 in a group B match in the morning.
Nuraini Mohammad opened accounts for KL Sukma
in the 4th minute before Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain doubled the
advantage in the 7th minute.
Although Nur Zulaika Yusof reduced the
deficit in the 10th minute for Politeknik, KL Sukma were in an
uncomprising mood.
Goals by Nor Syafiqah Mohd Zain (25th
and 40th minutes), Norazlin Sumantri (26th and 51st minutes),
Nur Athirah Johari (37th and 64th minutes), Nur Zafira
Aziz (31st minute), Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain (40th minute)
and Nur Zulaika (70th minute) completed the rout.
“We had a poor game against Terengganu on Wednesday
thus the huge scoreline is a welcome relief,” said KL coach Rizal Razman.
“Our test will be against PDRM tomorrow (Friday) as we will be up against the favourites. All I want is for my players to give their best and play up to their abilities.”
